Ibiza's season runs from May to October, peaking in July and August. For villas that only open in summer we select seasonal staff on fixed-term contracts with clear dates; for those that want to be looked after all year, a permanent couple or live-in who maintain the property, deal with suppliers and prepare it for each arrival. Ideally the selection is closed by March or April: by June the island is fully booked.
The question that defines the role is whether the principals will be in residence. With the family at home all summer, it's a villa running at full tilt: daily cooking, guests, children, laundry and long hours. With the family away, the job is maintenance and preparation. Salary, hours and profile are different, and we put it in writing before presenting candidates.
The staff we select for Ibiza speak English and Spanish; for Italian families, a strong presence in Santa Eulària and Sant Josep, we look for candidates with Italian when the role calls for it. Hiring domestic staff in Ibiza: what you need to know
Yes. For villas that open from May to October we select couples, live-in housekeepers, cooks and nannies on fixed-term contracts with clear dates. If you want the house looked after all year, we find a permanent couple or live-in. Start in March or April: by June few candidates on the island are still free.
It's the norm in Ibiza, where finding rental accommodation in season is close to impossible for staff. A live-in housekeeper needs her own bedroom and, ideally, her own bathroom; a couple needs separate accommodation on the property — an apartment, guest cottage or separate floor. We state it in the job offer from day one.
It depends on whether the couple live on the property, whether the family is in residence all summer and on the duties: house and kitchen, garden and pool, maintenance, driving. Roles with the family and guests at home pay more than maintenance-only roles. We prepare a bespoke proposal with each partner's salary and the total cost including Social Security.
As a national guide, between €1,500 and €2,500 gross per month, plus the family's Social Security contributions. We give you the figure for your area with the quote. In Ibiza what counts is the cost of living on the island and the type of property: a live-in for a villa with guests, cooking and English is at the top of the range; a live-in for a family home in Santa Eulària or Jesús, at the bottom.
