Mallorca runs on two calendars. Resident families hire the way they would in Madrid or Barcelona: a September or January start and year-round staff. Seasonal villas open between Easter and May and close in October; for those we select seasonal staff on fixed-term contracts with clear dates, or a year-round couple who keep the house running while the owners are away.
The second question we ask is whether the principals will be in residence: running a home with the family in it all summer — daily cooking, guests, children — is a different job from keeping an empty villa for ten months and preparing it for three visits a year. Salary, hours and profile all change, and we put it in writing before presenting candidates.
The staff we select for Mallorca speak Spanish and, depending on the family, English, German or Catalan. For German families in the south-west we look for candidates with German or fluent English; for British families in Pollença and Santa Ponsa, nannies and live-in housekeepers with native or bilingual English. If the house accommodates staff, the job offer says so from day one: a private room and bathroom or, for couples, separate living quarters.

Hiring domestic staff in Mallorca: what you need to know
Yes. For villas that open from Easter to October we select live-in housekeepers, nannies, cooks and couples on fixed-term contracts with clear dates. If you'd rather have the house looked after all year, we find a permanent couple or live-in who keeps it running while you're away. The earlier we start — ideally March or April for a June start — the more candidates will be available.
That's the norm in Mallorca. A live-in housekeeper needs her own bedroom and, ideally, her own bathroom; a domestic couple needs separate accommodation on the property — an apartment, guest cottage or separate floor. We state it in the job offer from the outset, because it's one of the first things candidates ask.
Yes. For German families in the south-west we select candidates with German or fluent English, and for British and Scandinavian families, nannies and live-in housekeepers with native or bilingual English. We also select Filipino staff with English and EU residence. Our team works in Spanish and English.
As a national guide, between €1,500 and €2,500 gross per month, plus the family's Social Security contributions. We give you the figure for your area with the quote. A live-in for a large villa with principals in residence, languages and cooking sits at the top of that range; a live-in for a Palma apartment with narrower duties, at the bottom. Seasonal roles are usually negotiated with a premium for the short duration.
Between €10 and €15 per hour in salary (the 2026 legal minimum is €9.55/h), plus Social Security registration and contributions from the first hour. In Palma it's the usual arrangement for cleaning and ironing several days a week; in the villa areas a full-time live-out housekeeper usually works out better.
The family does, as the employer, and it's mandatory from the first hour, including seasonal roles. We advise you on the contract — fixed-term or permanent — and on the registration and, if you prefer, our employment team handles all the paperwork for you even if you're not resident in Spain.
